Big Brother

As part of my final major project for University I have been studying Surveillance. Obviously this led me briefly to look at Big Brother. I decided to create a poster themed on the novel 1984 by George Orwell. I wanted the poster to be a warning. I decided to include a quote from within the book and the title Big brother. The end result is a graphics based poster, which relies on the combination of type and shape.

Adidas logo

This design was entered into the Talenthouse and Adidas competition. The premise of the project was to design a poster that included the adidas original logo and a theme from another decade. I decided to look at the 1980s and early 1990s. I wanted to use the classic grey suit and tie craze as my theme. I have tried to reflect this in my design by reworking the adidas logo to look like a tie. I have also used a 1980s colour scheme of flat blues and reds.

A Sailors Grave

I entered this design into a local competition in Portsmouth. the brief was to create something that represented the city. I wanted to capture the old side of Portsmouth, including the dock yards, cobbled streets and classic seaside pubs. I decided to incorporate the long forgotten light house. This relic sits idly between the old fort and Clarence peer. My style was at the time heavily influenced by tattoos. This worked really well as Portsmouth's naval history is rife with tattooed sailors.

This peace was something I sketched up whilst at work. The theme is through death comes life hence the crow. The original image was created using pencils it has since been altered in adobe InDesign. This images is also available as a poster on my Etsy store.
